The All India Conference on Livestock and Dairy Development was held at Gandhi Nagar (Gujarat) on June 11, 2013. Organised jointly by Gujarat Livestock Development Board, J.K. Trust and Department of Animal Husbandry, along with various government and non-governmental organizations associated with the livestock and dairy sector, the primary objectives of the conference were to:
Provide a national common platform for livestock and dairy development
Share success stories from different parts of the country
Discuss factors affecting livestock productivity
Share the knowledge and experience of Gujarat in development of animal husbandry and dairy sectors with other states.
Showcase the diversity of Indian livestock breeds and their importance.
Emphasize the role of livestock and dairy sectors in women's empowerment.
Emphasize role of this sector in ensuring the food security to the country.
To attain the objective, it was decided to create a common platform where various experts, academicians, technocrats, development personnel, technicians, opinion leaders, innovative farmers, government officials and policy makers could come together to interact and share their information, knowledge and experience so as to formulate an achievable goal and design a road¬ map for its achievement.
More than 7,000 participants from 200 districts of 20 states across the country attended the seminar. On the occasion, Shri Narendra Modi felicitated the best performing ‘Gopals’ of J.K. Trust Gram Vikas Yojana.
