Inauguration of JK BovaGenix
JK Trust has launched a new initiative namely 'JK BovaGenix' on 20th July 2016 at 'Dr. Vijaypat Singhania Centre of Excellence for Assisted Reproductive Technologies in Livestock' at Gopalnagar in Chhattisgarh. The initiative was launched by Dr. Raman Singh, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh in the august presence of Shri Brijmohan Agrawal, Minister for Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries, Government of Chhattisgarh, Shri Ajay Chandrakar, Minister for Panchayat & Rural Development and Health, Government of Chhattisgarh, Dr. Vijaypat Singhania, Chairman, JK Trust and Dr. Shyam Zawar, CEO, JK Trust. We were honoured to have the gracious presence of Dr. Suresh S. Honnappagol, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Government of India during the event.
This is a first of its kind initiative in the country aimed at producing large scale IVF pregnancies from fresh as well as frozen cattle IVF embryos. The launch event received much media attention and was widely covered in print as well as electronic media owing to the fact that, the initiative focussed on indigenous cattle breeds like Gir, Sahiwal, Tharparkar and Ongole. This is in line with the objectives of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, a flagship programme of Government of India aimed at preserving and propagating the germplasm of indigenous cattle breeds. Dr. Shyam Zawar, CEO, JK Trust declared 28 IVF pregnancies (14 each from fresh as well as frozen IVF embryos) produced at our lab in Chhattisgarh during the function.
Dr. Raman Singh also unveiled a Mobile Cattle ET and IVF Lab during the event, which will take these Advanced Assisted Reproductive Technologies like ET and IVF to the doorsteps of Indian farmers.
